Renovation of the Heart
John 4 · John 7 · 2 Peter 1
"The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life."
John 4:14"Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, 'Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.'"
John 7:38"Now this he said about the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were to receive."
— John 7:39
"His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness... that you may become partakers of the divine nature."
2 Peter 1:3-4"That he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being." — Ephesians 3:16
You are not trying to transform yourself.
You are cooperating with the Spirit who is actively transforming you.
"These promises must not be for us"
"We don't pursue them seriously"
Both leave us unchanged.
Christians are members of God's realized kingdom — but kingdom membership calls us to transformation, not complacency. We fail when we doubt real change is possible or when we simply don't take it seriously. Scripture is clear that transformation is both available and expected.
"If by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live." — Romans 8:13

Transformation
The Spirit produces the fruit — love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.
Galatians 5:22-23
Six dimensions — each disordered by sin, each needing renovation
This is why willpower alone fails.
See what's available
Decide to pursue it
Engage the practices
Not to earn favor — to position ourselves in the path of grace.
Each evening, five minutes before bed
Where did I experience life today?
Connection, peace, gratitude
Where did I experience dryness today?
Disconnection, anxiety, reactivity
Don't judge. Don't fix. Just notice.
"His divine power has granted to us everything required for life and godliness..."
2 Peter 1:3
The Spirit is already at work in you.
The question is whether we'll take the journey seriously.
